The Youth Union and Student Association of Lac Hong University (LHU) recently launched their "Green Summer 2025" campaign with a heartfelt initiative, "Books for Children – Sweet Milk of Affection". This program delivered essential school supplies and nutritional milk to underprivileged pupils in Tan An primary school, Dong Nai Province, reinforcing LHU's commitment to community engagement and sustainable development.
"This campaign helps students transform knowledge into meaningful action, fostering a generation of changemakers rooted in compassion, responsibility, and sustainability."
Spreading compassion through LHU Youth action
Over 30 student volunteers from Lac Hong University (LHU) visited Tan An Primary School in Dong Nai Province at the end of July to deliver school notebooks and nutritional milk to underprivileged children. The initiative, titled "Books for Children – Sweet Milk of Affection", was a heartfelt contribution as part of LHU’s annual Green Summer Campaign 2025. The campaign aims to foster a spirit of compassion and contribute to sustainable community development.
The program was attended by notable guests including Ms. Truong Le Bao Trinh – Secretary of the LHU Youth Union and Head of the Green Summer Campaign, Mr. Tran Xuan Hong – Vice Chairman of the Tan An Commune Fatherand Front Committee, and Mr. Le Trong Vien – Principal of Tan An Primary School.
The initiative served as a bridge of love, providing practical gifts such as notebooks and milk. These items, though small, embody the genuine affection and shared compassion of LHU's youth. Each gift not only offers material support but also conveys a positive message, inspiring children to continue their education, nurture their dreams, and strive for a brighter future. This directly contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), particularly by enhancing access to educational resources for vulnerable populations and promoting inclusive and equitable learning opportunities.
Education for Sustainable Community Development
More than a volunteering campaign, Green Summer serves as a platform for students to develop civic responsibility and deepen their engagement in community-oriented learning. From bright smiles to heartfelt exchanges, every interaction reinforced the campaign's social impact.
“These activities not only provide tangible support but also help students understand their role in community development and global citizenship education, which is central to LHU’s mission,” said Ms. Truong Le Bao Trinh.
LHU has committed to embedding Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into all student-led initiatives, encouraging greater awareness with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Every campaign leaves a lasting impression—each volunteer activity adds to LHU’s growing portfolio of impact-driven, socially responsible education. Green Summer is a practical illustration of how universities can integrate sustainability into curriculum and campus life.
“This is not a one-off charity effort—it’s part of our institutional strategy to promote Global Citizenship Education, equipping students with lifelong skills and a commitment to sustainable impact,” added Trinh.
