Dong Nai Biosphere Youth Forum 2020

On June 29th, 2011, Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve was recognized by UNESCO as the 580th Biosphere Reserve in the world and the 8th Biosphere Reserve in Vietnam, with a total area of ​​969,993 ha. In particular, this place also has the last remaining tropical wet rain forest in South Vietnam along with many rare and endangered species of animals. It is also known as an "outdoor laboratory" which is ideal for conducting scientific research, as well as making new proposals on conservation and development.

The aim is to gather young people of Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve, to raise awareness of the role and responsibility of the youth, and to share ideas to contribute to the development of Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve. On November 21st and 22nd, 2020, the Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve Management Board organized the Dong Nai Biosphere Youth Forum. The topic: "Conservation for development, development for conservation". With the participation of more than 80 young people, who are young cadres of Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve, students from universities of the Dong Nai Biosphere Club Network (Hoa Sen University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, College of Natural Science, Vietnam Forestry University and Lac Hong University).

Participating in the forum, you learn about biodiversity, take samples, instruct GPS use, survival skills, eat meals in the forest ... Group discussion on the role of young people in many fields for the development of Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve such as biodiversity and cultural conservation; plastic waste management; environmental communication and education.
