LHU promotes international cooperation, seeks Taiwan scholarships

On May 30, LHU received a delegation from the Education Department of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in HCM City. The aim of their coming was to introduce information about Taiwan education, culture and scholarships to LHU teachers and students.

Participating in this program, on the side of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in HCM City, were Ms. Ou Chi His  - Secretary of Education, the speaker; Ms. Luong Gia Van, Education Assistant and Interpreter. Representatives of LHU included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh - Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Lam - Vice Rector; MA. Nguyen Thi Hoang Oanh - Head of International Affairs Office, Leaders of faculties, lecturers and students.

Ms. Luong Gia Van presented information about Taiwan education and scholarships

At the program, Ms. Ou Chi His - Secretary of Education and Ms. Luong Gia Van - Education Assistant introduced Taiwanese education, culture and scholarships to the participants. Taiwan is a beautiful island, located in the western Pacific Ocean, with a temperate climate, rich cuisine and many attractive tourist attractions. As an economically developed country, Taiwan is considered one of the regions with the highest standard of living in Asia, diverse with ethnic groups, cultures and languages. Moreover, Taiwan's education system according to the QS Ranking, in 2020 there were 9 Taiwanese universities listed in the top 400 best ones in the world.

Taiwan has a large Vietnamese community. The cost of studying and living in Taiwan is also very reasonable. Tuition and dormitory costs for undergraduate and graduate programs are only about USD $4,000 to $6,000 a year. In addition, many universities have scholarship policies for learners with good academic achievements and extracurricular activities. During the course of study, learners have opportunities to work part-time to pay a part of living expenses and gain experience as a solid knowledge base on the career path.

ALso at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh shared “We are so honored to welcome Ms. Ou Chi His and the delegation from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in HCM City to come here to provide us information about Taiwan education, culture and scholarships. We are so happy to have a lot of teachers studying in Taiwan. They had graduated and are currently working here. I also had the opportunity to study and live in Taiwan for 3 years and this is a very wonderful country in terms of both culture and people."

Through the program, teachers and students of LHU discussed and were answered questions about opportunities for education cooperation between Vietnam and Taiwan, including human resources needs of Taiwan's enterprises, Taiwan's position in the world in the fields of trade and education. Training programs, conditions and procedures for admissions to Taiwan schools were also provided to the participants.

The two sides are expected to promote mutual international cooperation to bring teachers and students of LHU the most practical benefits: studying, experiencing practical knowledge, getting higher education, .... in Taiwan.
