LHU students rack up national awards, showcasing their foreign language skills in summer 2026

Summer 2026 has been a remarkable season of achievements for students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at LHU. Continously competing prestigious academic competitions in Korean, Chinese, and Japanese nationwide, LHU students have brought home a number of outstanding awards, further demonstrating the University's quality of foreign language education and capacity for international integration.

The first achievement was an impressive performance by students majoring in Korean Studies at the 30th World Korean Speech Contest and the 14th K-SPEECH Vietnam Speech Contest. After a full day of competition against teams from universities across the country, the LHU team successfully defended its First Prize in the Group Speech category, following its championship in the previous season. In addition, student Vu Ngoc Khanh won Second Prize in the Individual Speech category for university students.

Sharing his experience after the competition, Vu Ngoc Khanh said “What I gained was not only an award but also personal growth through my learning and training at LHU. Our lecturers have always supported us in developing presentation, critical thinking, and teamwork skills, as well as using Korean in real-life situations. These experiences have given me greater confidence when standing on the stage of a national competition”.

The achievements continued at the 2026 National Korean Speaking Contest – Korean Ambassador's Cup. Pham Thuy Uyen (cass 23DH111) won Third Prize in the Major category, while Vu Thi Phuong Thao (Class 25DH111) received an Consolation Prize in the Non-Major category. These two prizes further added to the impressive record of Korean Studies students at national academic competitions.

In Chinese language competitions, students majoring in Chinese Language continued to make their mark at the 3rd Open Chinese Dubbing Contest, organized by Van Hien University. Competing against many teams from universities across southern Vietnam, LHU students won three awards, including two Consolation Prizes for Tran Pham Yen Nhi and Nguyen Thi Duy Nhu, as well as the Most Popular Performance Award for Nguyen Thi Duy Nhu.

In Japanese language competitions, Truong Quyen Linh (class 25DN111), a student majoring in Japanese Studies, earned a Consolation Prize at the 6th Open Japanese Speech Contest 2026. With a well-prepared speech, confident delivery, and fluent Japanese, Quyen Linh added another proud achievement to the record of LHU students.

Quyen Linh proudly shared “My achievement today is the result of a long process of practice, with my lecturers always accompanying and supporting me. Their support helped me stay calm, confidently deliver my message at the competition, and achieve a well-deserved result".

Continuing the impressive series of achievements, Nguyen Thi My Linh, a student majoring in Japanese Studies won a Consolation Prize at the UEF Japan Festival 2026 Open Japanese Speech Contest, themed “Connecting Cultures – Creating Opportunities”. Her speech focused on “Internships in Japan – A Journey of Growth”, held on August 8, 2026.

The consecutive awards won by LHU students at prestigious academic competitions are a clear testament to the University's practice-oriented approach to foreign language education and its focus on international integration. These achievements not only demonstrate the students' efforts, confidence, and determination to challenge themselves, but also reflect the support and guidance of LHU lecturers in helping students develop their academic knowledge, practical skills, and international competencies.
